A phrase that the Oxford English Dictionary reports was first used in 1736. It means "to make an inventory of the merchandise, furniture, etc., in one's own possession, recording its quantity and present value, or to make a careful estimate of one's position with regard to resources, prospects, or the like."

Allotment in Power Grid Corporation

I have been allotted 286 shares in the Power Grid Corporation issue. Surprisingly, despite this being a good issue, the retail subscrition was less than 7 times. FIRM allotment was offered in most categories (multiples).

With this my IPO hit-rate stands at 52.63% (10 out of 19).

I hereby renounce my hair ......

Hehe...almost, not quite.

I visited Dr. Health, Indiranagar yesterday for my hair-loss blues. I've been losing those thinning strands on the scalp for the last several years. But somehow it has begun to seem that the silent-culprits who were playing test matches on my head till now, have started playing 20-20! What an acceleration ? !! They are falling like the free-all we witness every year in Cubbon Park during autumn.

The first step in the therapy read "Shave your head!". Thankfully, it didn't stop there, it said "If not comfortable, go for a machine cut and ensure the strands are as small as possible.". I didn't quite have the guts to go for the former (what if they didn't grow back ? :P ), hence went for the latter.

Presenting to you, my latest avatar :))

Nostalgia

My darling aniyathi (sister) made me look up something online yesterday. Something that left me really excited, the nostalgic feeling was hard to get out of :). She asked me to look up the old theme of the Doordarshan, yes the song that used to be played (is it still played ? no clue whatsoever!) every morning when DD would start its transmission. Yes, the orange moon and the sound of a screeching record, you guessed it right !!!

Never found it online, but found several others. For your pleasure:

Decibel's Naagin

I happened to listen to a track called 'Naagin' from an Indian band Decibel, which they played @ Channel V Launch Pad. Boy! I must admit, these guys rock. Here is a studio version of the same:

Labourers sweat it out.

Our apartment is surrounded by construction sites. Here is a glimpse of the labourers sweating it out, some flirting with danger at crazy altitudes.
