Moser Baer enters Home Entertainment Business

Moser Baer is a world leader in the manufacture of optical media (CDRs, CDRWs, DVDs) . Home Entertainment business. Incorporated in 1983 in New Delhi, it was one of the earliest Indian firms to go global. Now, it has its presence in 82 countries.

Now, they have ventured into the Home Entertainment business. VCD/DVD catalogs of Tamil and Malayalam titles are already listed in their portal. A recent announcement said, Kannada titles would follow course.

I'm kinda impressed with their business model. Take a look at their Tamil catalog, VCDs and DVDs are being sold for a dirt cheap Rs. 28 and Rs. 34 respectively ! That is what empty media used to cost about 2 years ago !

Mallus are in for a disappointment looking at the Malayalam catalog. Thanks to Kerala's highly ineffective anti-piracy laws, piracy is still at its usual high, but authentic VCDs and DVDs (DVDs probably never come!) take atleast a year to hit the market.

yeah...its kinda impressive...may be they need to some aggressive advertising. I don't think many are even aware of this.
