A phrase that the Oxford English Dictionary reports was first used in 1736. It means "to make an inventory of the merchandise, furniture, etc., in one's own possession, recording its quantity and present value, or to make a careful estimate of one's position with regard to resources, prospects, or the like."

Do I see a blood clot ?

Sigh of relief ........

The markets bounced back a lil today. Especially the ending was strong and reassuring. My portfolio moved up, in par with the indices. In fact, RIIL and Infy were the only stocks in the red. Parsvnath, Tech-Mah, Reliance, Reliance-Comm were among those that bounced back well.

Sobha's IPO allotment was out today. A disappointing result. No allotment :(
The basis of allotment was rather interesting. Investors who applied for a 1 lac worth also didn't get FIRM allotment! And immaterial of how much you asked for, if you are lucky you get 10. Couldn't expect more from an issue that got oversubscribed 120 times.

Applied for 175 shares of Tanla solutions today. The issue has so far been over-subscribed (4.4 times overall). But, I expect this number to go much much higher (~40 times) by tomorrow EOD.

Additionally, did some MF shopping today. I anyway had a lot of pending 'Section 80C tax planning' items. Picked up 20K worth of SBI's Magnum Tax Gain and 20K worth of HDFC Tax Saver. The choice was purely based on the reputation of these two over the last 3 years and 5 years.

Decided against applying for Cairn. Still haven't made up mind on Pyramid. But, the Sobha refund should come in time, if I need to apply for that.

ITC looks like a great buy at 173. Need to watch him closely tomorrow.
